I need a boost

A booster seat that is. Or at least when do you move your child to a booster seat. Sass is in her roundabout britax seat (not that pattern). She has been in this since she was out of the infant car seat. She is probably approaching 30 pounds. I am thinking I should be in the market for a booster seat. Graco can you hear me ? I am a mommy blogger, I know you love mommy bloggers. I did so much research for all my baby equipment, using the baby bargains book as my bible. I have not had to research much once we entered pre school age.

So I am hoping that maybe I can skip the research and just let the blogosphere fill me in. What to use ? When ? Why ? and maybe Graco would like to send me their pick and I will do a product review.

I am hoping to do another run this weekend. We did the beach today, me and the girls. It is manageable and I do plan on going as much as I can. However next week and the week after that Sass is doing a swim camp. Every morning from 9 to 12 sans me. On Saturdays we get to go and watch what they have learned. I am nervous how she will do. My Mom is coming to help out b/c it is a 30 minute drive and I know she won't be easy to leave, not having to have Frass with me will be helpful. The swim camp has been around forever and gives some great results.

I really enjoyed the book club, the discussion and the book itself. Check out New Jersey Moms Blog for all the information.

On the booster seats, I think it's 40 pounds that you move to a booster seat. Mister Man is 4 1/2 and about 37 pounds and is still in his Triumph V. Per the doctor, the longer you can keep them in the 5 point harness, the safer they are. I did, of course, buy a Graco convertible (with high back that comes off easily for carpooling) months ago in anticipation of transitioning him... but we're still in the carseat. Good luck!

Both my girls are still in a carseat also. They are both the same weight, about 34 lbs. I plan on keeping them in a carseat as long as humanly possible.

We have the Britax marathon and Charlotte is 34 pounds. I plan on keeping her in that until she is 40 pounds at least and then switching to a booster seat. Like Michelle said, the longer in that seat, the safer.

I have Kent in the Britax Regent. He is 39" and about 37 pounds. When he outgrew his car seat, we bought the Regent because it will hold him til he is 53" and 80 pounds! I want to keep him in a 5 point harness as long as possible.

I don't think she is quite ready for a booster seat. I would keep her in the 5-point harness as long as possible. It is so much safer. Britax's website says they should be 40lbs. You might also want to check with your state to see what laws they have.

Congrats on the run! I hate running!

We have the Marathon for the girls, and plan to keep them in it until they outgrow it. My girls are tall and skinny (so NOT my gene pool) so they'll probably out-height it than out-weigh it.

My husband's car has Cosco Scenera's (mainly for daycare pickup) so we're looking for a new seat for E as she nears 40. I think I might get that Graco seat you linked to, or get the Britax Regent. I also think Britax just came out with a new booster with harness that I might look into.

I got DD a 5 point harness booster. There are not many of those out there. She just looked so uncomforatble in the reg. car seat. It is black and white and by Evenflo. I love it and I still feel it is safe because it has the 5 point harness but the room of a booster. I got it at Babies R Us. She is 32 lbs, small for 4 yrs. old and I want her to be strapped in tight!

I bought DS#1 a Marathon when he outgrew the roundabout b/c I wasn't quite ready to move him to a booster. He's 4-1/2 now and I just moved him to the Britax booster and moved DS#2 up to the Marathon (from the roundabout).

We own a graco booster and a britax booster. I like the britax better.

I'm a carseat freak. The max on yours is 40 pounds, so you've got some time still left before you have to buy anything new. After that, I'd recommend the carseat Robin suggested -- the Regent. If a seatbelt fails in an accident, a booster seat won't protect a child. But a carseat like the Regent has an extra tether that should hold the seat down and provide one extra layer of protection. (I also agree with everyone on the five-point harness thing, and can't figure out why adults don't have them in their seats.)

Good luck on your run!! I don't understand what happened to timing chips, either. How DO they get your results?
