Private collections & NEWS

Ok, I have 2 different items to discuss, hence the strange title.

First off, you know how some people have a private wine collection, or maybe a collection of cars.

Well Sass has a PRIVATE collection of Care Bears. These Care Bears sit on her dresser, lined up. There is NOTHING else allowed on the dresser, if you put something on the dresser she will immediately move that item, as well as give you a stern talking to. No one is allowed to move, touch, or talk to the Care Bears. This AM, Sass woke up and was talking to the Care Bears. When Frass and I walked in to get her, she explained she was talking to them. However, when Frass went near the dresser, Sass said (in a VERY stern voice - not sure where she gets that from ??) "No Frass, those are PRIVATE"

Maybe they will be worth money some day, this PRIVATE collection of Care Bears.

Next, I was wondering how you get your news. What, if any papers do you read ? websites ? Be honest...is PerezHilton your only source of info ? Nothing wrong with that. Are you able to watch the 5 o'clock news ??? Are you a newshound ? or are you living in the Mommy bubble ??

I live in the mommy bubble. I have no idea who won what on super tuesday...oh but I did hear some interesting super tuesday news on twitter does that count?

I read US weekly every friday night, read the sunday paper front to back and that's pretty much it. If the blogging world isn't talking about it I don't need to know it right?
Local news I get from dh since he works for the local government....

Wow, private CareBears, nice!!

I used to read the local papers and watch the news when something I was interested in was on.

Now I pretty much live in a bubble. I watched CNN last night and hit their website a few times.

I pretty much live in the mommy bubble. What news I do get is what I see on the local news or fox news/cnn, etc. at the gym...during the commercials while I am watching Law and Order.

I check out cnn.com every day, and DH and I will usually watch John Stewart and The Colbert Report (not strictly news shows, more entertainment, but they are at least current events based). Besides sports and children's shows, these really are the only tv shows we watch.

Our local paper is awful. I mean really really bad. We pick up the Pittsburgh paper on Sundays and will occasionally get the New York Times. We also have subscriptions to Mother Jones, The Atlantic, Time and Newsweek. (Although I admit, a lot of the time the only one I read in its entirety is Newsweek.)

I did live in the mommy bubble when E was first born, however. In some ways I kind of miss it... it was nice not having to worry about anything beyond weaning and walking!

Our girls sound similar...Care Bears rule!

I get my news from my google reader...Sad. I know, I have forced myself into my mommy bubble...or I may never leave home.

I live in the mommy bubble and I like it that way :) My hubby is political enough for the both of us and he keeps me informed on what I need to know. He is my "filter" to the outside world...I do read US Weekly every week, does that count??

When I get on the computer every day my hme page is set to MSN, so I read thru that quickly. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, I watch the evening news. I love reading the newspaper, but we don't even get one 'cause I don't have time. I esp. love the Sunday paper.

On the Care Bear note-is it strange that my DD's fave Care Bear is Grumpy for some reason? She says she likes his eyes. Huh????

Hey Feener-
I had to get a new blog. You can find me under this profile. Sorry to make you change your blog list. :(

I am so bad about getting news - I listen to the radio on the way to work (just regular radio, not NPR or anything fancy) and I read the news headlines on Yahoo.

Thankfully my husband knows everything and everything and he fills me in...

I'm a little of everything. I listen to the news station on the way to and from work (mainly for traffic reports), try to catch some version of the local news and try to skim the headlines of the Washington Post.

But...if I have a moment, I'm more likely to head on over to Perez or People than MSNBC or CNN.

My husband works for a newspaper so you think I would get my news through that. Nope.

I get my news on-line or by listening to 1010 WINS.

i'm in love with cnn.com and npr.org. i used to display my care bears in similar fashion. it's required to be a true care bear mommy. :)

Sad to say I rarely read the paper and its at my mom's house (I'm there daily).
At 6pm I have had enough of noggin and I switch on the news. I catch up on gossip with TMZ.com too!

I am news obsessed!!! Ever since 9/11 I'm afraid I will miss something major if I don't watch several times a day.

PBS News Hour is who I watch if I want serious, unbiased info. And all my stock info comes from online and the Nightly Business Report (PBS). We don't have cable so I watch local news briefly in the morning, again at noon and briefly at 5 then the full thing at 10 or 11 (or both). I also like to watch the National News each night, preferably ABC and NBC.

Online I visit sites with a strong political slant.

We do get the paper but I use it for fluff/informational pieces and not actual news.

Lately Perez has been providing a lot of commentary on the presidential race. He's a Clinton supporter while the ladies of Celebrity-Babies are Obama supporters. Between those two sites and a few tivo'd episodes of The John Stewart Show and The Colbert Report, aren't I keeping up with the news (while laughing my butt off)?

I love that she gives you or anyone else a stern talking to. So funny! As for news, pretty much in the mommy bubble- kids can't listen to that stuff... I don't want to hear most of it, either. But, I do love Sunday morning's Meet the Press.

I live in mommy bubble. I heard Obama's "Yes we can" speech and said, "Hey, he stole that from Bob the Builder!"
